He may be on house arrest for pulling a gun out on his accountant last year, but Gunplay
isn’t letting that stop him from getting his money and making new
music. In fact, the Maybach Music Group member has a new mixtape,
entitled Cops & Robbers, set for release on 18 January and
is preparing fresh material for an upcoming album too, which we can
expect to hear in Spring.
Speaking to Hip Hop Since 1987′s E-Money, Gunplay explained that Cops & Robbers will
feature unreleased music, new collaborations with artists such as Yo
Gotti and unreleased freestyles. He also admitted that he has a huge
passion for video games – naming Black Ops 2 and 2K13 as a couple of his favourites.
“I play video games excessively, to the point where I do that shit more than drugs,” he says.
After proving his worth in the industry last year with verses on hits including Kendrick Lamar‘s
“Cartoon & Cereal” and MMG’s “Power Circle,” Gunplay went on to
sign a solo deal with Def Jam and here, he claims that he chose the
label because that’s where his loyalties lie.
Despite the question about what kind of guns Gunplay is a fan of –
which I can’t help but feel is in bad taste given the recent shootings
in Connecticut – this interview is worth a watch. I wasn't a fan of Gunplay just because I reall wasn't feeling the MMG "Boss" but they are starting to grow on me. Check it out below.
