Sunday

Wyclef Jean - "If I Was President" (Freestyle) - {Video}

  Wyclef Jean is one of the most underrated lyricist in HipHop today.  His unconventional style of rap has him flying just below the super popular status.  Don't get me wrong he gets credit for several hits he has created and also putting Destiny's Child on the map.  Unfortunately that's only the half of what he brings to the art of HipHop.  This is one of my favorite Wyclef Freestyles, I hope y'all enjoy it.

Saturday

Has-Lo "Hindsight" (Prod. Apollo Brown) - {Official Video}

One of my favorite underrated Emcees Has-Lo, has one of the dopest tracks produced by Apollo Brown.   This track was a remixed version of the song Limit, now titled Hindsight.  The new version from Apollo is a striped down and haunting affair that puts Has' man on the edge lyrical display in focus.  The occasion?  MMG released Has-Lo's critically acclaimed debut album "In Case I Don't Make It" on limited edition 180 gram vinyl.

Friday

Jeff Bradshaw - "All Time Love" (Ft.. Robert Glasper, Eric Roberson & Tweet) - {Video}

It's been awhile since we featured other genres of music but when we do it's always some dope underground s#$!  Jeff Bradshaw has been a beast in the game for a minute now, his trumpet playing takes me back to Mo' Betta Blues.  On this track Jeff is featuring Robert Glasper one of the dopest pianist in the game, the jazzy vocals of Eric Roberson and the sweet melodies of Tweet.  Now this is REal R&B music, something that is hardly ever played on the radio.

Thursday

ILL BILL - "Exploding Octopus" - {Official Throwback Video}

 ILL BILL single release Exploding Octopus off of his new solo LP, "THE GRIMY AWARDS" LP was a 2013 classic. It featured HR of Bad Brains, A-Trak, El-P, Jedi Mind Tricks, OC, Cormega, Meyhem Lauren, Q-Unique, Shabazz the Disciple & Lil Fame of M.O.P. + production by DJ Premier, DJ Muggs, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Beatnuts, El-P, Ayatollah, and MoSS. ILL BILL always has a conscious message in his lyrics but this time he brought "The Dream Team".

Tuesday

Phlow - "MP3" (Ft. Mz Kiss, Pryse & Pasha ) - {Official Video}

Rarely do you ever see a collaboration like this especially coming out of Nigeria.  I remember when artist from the States would come together like this, but those days are long gone.  Another unique thing about this track is that all the females (Mz Kizz, Pryse, and Phlow) are rappers while the one male Pasha is a singer.  I don't remember seeing this many talented females on one song since "Ladies Night" off the Lil Kim's LP.  How many female rappers  you know can spit in multiple languages? Not to mention Teck-Zilla's the producer who brings this dope ensemble together.  It's becoming very apparent to me that artist from other countries show more appreciation for the art of HipHop than we do.

Monday

Childish Gambino - "The Worst Guys"(Ft. Chance The Rapper) - {Video}

I was a bit late on the birth of the Chance The Rapper and Childish Gambino debut movement.  But eventually I caught up realizing these guys were really talented lyricist and not some new gimmick.  I usually give an artist about a 6 months to see if the are the real deal some artist get a quicker judgement like Kendrick Lamar and Joey Bada$$.

Sunday

Non-Combatants - " Envisioning Sound" - {Audio}

 Non-Combatants are an independent, underground HipHop group out of Los Angeles, the west has been definitely stepping up their game lately.  Non-Combatants are also the sole owners of Step Down Music and both are in charge of all the production, which is the only way an artist can survive in the industry nowadays.

The label was formed in early 2000 as a political project that would touch on all the sensitive topics such as freedom of speech, religion, conformity, commercialism, and artistic influence. It's because of individuals like this is why I formed UnsungHipHop.Com in order to provide a platform for Good Conscious HipHopCheckout their latest project Envisioning Sound below this is what Real HipHop is made of!!

Friday

Sean Price - "Soul Perfect" (Ft. Illa Ghee, Royal Flush) - {Official Video}

In my realm Sean Price was one of the best lyricist in our culture of HipHop.  Sean's skills are underrated in the mainstream, but the REal HipHop heads know he's a Rap God.  It was hard for me seeing his daughter in this video knowing she will never see her dad again.  Sean's death was like losing Big Pun and Notorious B.I.G. all over again.  His music will live forever, and I will be rockin' and featuring it until the day I die. "P!!"

Thursday

Velly Marsh - "Galaxia Mental" (Prod. Sock One) - {Audio}

Coming off a year where Velly Marsh dropped 2 albums simultaneously, he has already began recording his next LP "Dark Matter". The first single "Galaxia Mental received praise from Immortal Technique which in my book is like the approval of Jay-Z.  Trust when I tell you Immortal  only gives props to REal lyricist and Emcees non of that "PoP" or "Trap" Rap BS.

Wednesday

Oddisee - "Brea" - {Official Video}

Oddisee is one of those rare Emcees that can also make dope beats.  This little ensemble is just a small example of his pure talent, similar to a J.Cole or Kanye he usually make all the beats he spit over.  Coming from the DMV it's harder for conscious rappers to get local support, but through hard work and consistency he is now "The People's Champ" when it comes to Underground HipHop.

Tuesday

Devine Carama - "LEGACY: Devine Carama's Greatest Hits" - {Audio}

At the end of last year, Devine Carama made a decision to shift the focus of his music a little bit. Before doing so he drop a "Greatest Hits" style project entitled, "LEGACY" to close that chapter. This LP consist of 27-song collective of his best work from 2006-2016. Not to mention it features A-List artist like Canibus, Deacon The Villain of CunninLynguists, Sheisty Khrist, Nemo Achida, and Fredd C just to name a few.  The project is available for streaming & digital purchase now via Bandcamp and other sites were digital media is sold.

Monday

Necro - "Take HipHop Back" (Ft. Immortal Technique & Vinnie Paz) - {Official Video}

Today I present to you Underground HipHop Royalty, if  you don't know about them you're not a true fan of the culture.  That being said let me say this Immortal Technique and Vinnie Paz (of Jedi Mind Tricks) has changed the way I view HipHop.  They were first brought to my attention back in 2000 by unlikely source a Game Stop employee.  The is non-black individual open my eyes up to a world (Underground HipHop)I was looking for but was unaware of beyond what was played on the radio.

The point of the story is, it's a shame to see a culture black people started but show no true appreciation or love for it.  Beyond the "Mumble" & "Trap" most of us don't listen to much else.  Immortal and Vinnie are on my top 10 list, no one spits more Hardcore HipHop with street knowledge like they do maybe KRS-ONE.  Not to mention Necro has picked up the baton and taken it to the next level.

Saturday

Joey Bada$$ - "Underground Airplay" (Ft. Big K.R.I.T. & Smoke DZA) - {Video}

 Words can't really describe my excitement for this collaboration right here Joey Bada$$ single Underground Airplay featuring none other than Big K.R.I.T. and Smoke DZA.  This is a classic right here, he feels good to see some of the younster spit REal HipHop.

Friday

Talib Kweli - "Push Thru" (Ft. Kendrick Lamar & Curren$y) - {Video}

Talbi Kweli has always featured some of the dopest artist on his tracks.  This is a throw back before Kendrick Lamar was a household name.  You know you are confident artist when you're not afraid to put the dopest rappers on your LP.  When I think back I'm trying to figure out who hasn't he rhymed with.  Talbi Kweli is hands down your favorite rapper, favorite rapper.!

Thursday

Brother Ali - "Own Light (What Hearts Are For)" - {Official Video}

Brother Ali is the perfect example of "You can't judge a book by it's cover".  But don't let the priest like persona fool you, Ali can spit with the best of them he as bars for days.  I was first introduced to him a few years ago and I'm telling you my ears couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing.  Very deep brother, all of his concept rhymes speaks of a higher being of living.  He would be one of the pastors in KRS-One's church of HipHop alson known as The Temple.

Wednesday

Ultramagnetic MC's - "Poppa Large" - {Official Video}

Now here is one group that needs it's own "Usung" episode made.  Ultramagnetic Mc's is "The" most respected and loved group in underground HipHop.  When these guys get together it's like forming "Voltron".  UM is probably the oldest group in HipHop, my man Kool Keith still releasing new material.  May you enjoy this trip down memory lane as I have...peace.

Tuesday

Evidence - "Throw It All Away" - {Official Video}

I know most people listen to music to escape their daily grind and problems.  So listening to Evidence most individuals don't do, they prefer one of those aut0-tune, trap rappin' Emcees to make them feel better.  While others like myself (Left Brain MotherF$#@!s), prefer the REal over the Fiction.

I believe you can  have fun with HipHop music without the idiocracy and the mumblin' auto-tuned vocals.  Besides there is enough buffoonery in music, some of ya'll need a serious HipHop detox.  But enough about  me and my preference checkout the latest from Evidence.

Monday

Kool Keith - "Tired" (Ft. Edo. G) - {Official Video}

Kool Keith has been slowly but surely making his way back to HipHop radar after a short hiatus.  We just featured his single with MF DOOM and he just dropped with another joint with Edo.G.  Despite recording over 30 albums his skills hasn't diminished, I'm glad he left that wig home this time, make sure  you cop his new LP "Feature Magnetic".

Sunday

Keith Price - "Bunch Of Fives, Vol 5" - (The Final Edition) - {Audio}

Bunch Of Fives Series. Vol 5 is a 15 track album that finishes up the dope series. Heavy on drum breaks, meant for the people who like their music with crackle and warmth.
This album was made without any midi, sequencing or quantising, Keith Price brings back the art of mixing before the computers took over and saturated HipHop with auto-tuned mumble rap.
If you trying to cop a copy of this classic you will have to go to MySpace, that's right MySpace (talkin' about keepin' it old school). So if you are a Emcee looking for beats make sure you checkout the links below.  Keith Price is one of the few Producers/BeatSmiths out there who is keeping Real HipHop alive.

Saturday

Apollo The Great - "Above The Sky" - {Official Video}

 One of my favorite singles off Apollo The Great's Hennessy Diaries album. "Above The Sky" was a Underground classic a few years back.  To be honest I haven't heard much from Apollo as of lately I need to find out if he's still in the game.  HipHop needs more hardcore artist especially with all this "Mumble Rap" these days.  Checkout what a real lyricist sounds like below.

Wednesday

Chance The Rapper - "Brain Cells" - {Official Video}

I had to feature this oldie but goodie from Chance The Rapper, because HipHop these days are short of lyricist.  I will admit I was late on the bandwagon when it comes to listening to his music.  I first heard about Chance through the mainstream media which made me skeptical of his lyrical content or skill.

After discovering that Chance was a Lyrical Beast I did farther research to find out what made him so mainstream.  It was probably his father's political connections (who worked side by side with senator Barack Obama) and a few other high up associates.  You can have all the talent in the world but without connections you are just a hobbyist.

Tuesday

Stephen "RAGGA" Marley - "My Conclusion" - (Ft. Akon & Buju Banton) - {Video}

The big homie Stephen Marley is always choosing the perfect artists for his features.  This is one of my favorite joints I play in my truck.  You can't have HipHop without its true origin, Jamaica.  Which is the birth place of DJ Kool Herc, the rebirth of HipHop in The Bronx was not a coincidence every happens for a reason.

Monday

A-F-R-O - "A-F-R-O x DOOM" (MixTape) - {Audio}

One way to pay homage to the great Emcees in HipHop, is to create a Mixtape over their most popular beats.  No one could do this better than the up and coming phenom A-F-R-O.  This lyrical wordsmith has been puttin' the work in for a few years now building up his fan base the organic way.  I would love to see him battle one of these so called rappers today I'm sure he would EAt your favorite artist alive.

Sunday

Devine Carama - "Suspect" (Nas Tribute) - {Official Video}

 Devine Carama is a underground HipHop artist from Lexington, KY, this is his Nas tribute projected entitled "It Was Rewritten: A Nas Tribute".  Devine has worked with tons of heavy hitters like Thee Tom Hardy, Vito Banga of Nappy Roots, 88 Key's signed Nemo Achida, legendary battle Emcee Canibus, & Underground HipHop group CunningLynguists.
"We really wanted to go for an early-mid 90's feels on this one. The mixtape was inspired by a mid 90's LP so we felt it was only right to have that essence.. Also, so much of just one type of theme is going on right now in hip hop.. Everything is big, expensive, negative, degrading, numb...... We just wanted to throw something out there that the opposite to a lot that's going on right now. Do our part in balancing things out. " - Devine Carama
