Saturday

Leeb Burton - "Camp Reality" - {Official Video}

Leeb Burton dropped a single "Camp Reality" off his debut mixtape, Reality's Revenge a few years ago.  I just had to show some love to Leeb for this dope tribute to Camp Lo instrumental beat Uptown Saturday Night.  And I'm trying to show more fun tracks like this so sit back for some old Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince more groups like that, especially for the weekends.

Thursday

The Soul Pros - "Peace In The Mile High" - {Official Video}

The Soul Pros classic release off their first EP called $OUL'D OUT.  The Soul Pros is a true school HipHop collective made up of Pavlo Kee, Mike Wird, and DJ A-L.  Check'em out, it's on some smoothed out ill s#@!, really dope stuff.   This group sounds like they are a part of the Native Tongue movement.  And if you don't know what that is then you really are not a fan of REal  HipHop.

Tuesday

AZ - "Save Them" (Ft. Raekwon + Prodigy) - {Official Video}

First off R.I.P. to my mans Prodigy he is definitely missed as one of the top lyricists in the game.  As usual Raekwon always brings the heat to whatever track he lace.  Last but not least AZ, I'm glad he decided to pick up the pen again after a long hiatus.  It's obvious REal Emcees get better with time I can't think of any of these new lames being able to compete with the Gods.

Monday

Phonte - "So Help Me God" - {Official Video}

Today we bring y'all another example of a successful HipHop artist who is also independent.  For those who don't know Phonte was 1/3 of the mega underground phenom group Little Brother.  The other two members Fat Boy Fresh and 9th Wonder went on to have successful solo careers after they broke up as well.

9th Wonder (the Beat Master) went on to produce damn near the entire underground roster and starting an independent record label. Fat Boy Fresh still dropping LP's and touring around the world with his music.  Fans (myself included) are still hoping for a Little Brother reunion though.

Saturday

Jedi Mind Tricks - "Marciano's Reign" (Ft. Scott Stallone) - {Official Video}

HipHop underground legends Jedi Mind Tricks has been dropping classics for over 20 years without a major record deal.  They are living proof that you can create rap music without selling your soul for butter biscuits.  The integrity of this group is unheard of on the mainstream side of HipHop, most rappers will buck dance and give up their first born for a corporate paycheck.

Friday

J. Cole - "Kevin's Heart" - {Official Video}

I'm sure most men have been in a similar situation, but I couldn't even imagine my infidelities playing out in the public like that.  This seems to be a common problem with most men worldwide no matter race, religion or culture.  Has anyone ever ask, "Why most men have to be taught to be faithful?"  Either way, Kevin Heart proved he has huge King Kong balls for even shooting this video, but like Jay Z if she is worth it, you'll do anything to save your marriage.

Wednesday

Pharoahe Monch - "Still Standing" - (Ft. Jill Scott) - {Official Video}

If you asked me you can't mention Underground HipHop Legend without mentioning Pharoahe Monch.  He is a true veteran in the game of independent artist who is making a living in HipHop without a major record deal.  A smart artist knows there is power and profit in owning your own masters and writing your own material.  While most of your favorite "rap stars" are only flash in the pan rappers, an artist like Pharoahe Monch lyrics will last the test of time.

Saturday

Sadat X - "This Is Our Thing"(Ft.Pharoahe Monch & Phil G) - {Official Video}

 On this classic collaboration, Sadat X joins forces with Pharoahe Monch and Phil G for the "This Is Our Thing" single from his Love, Hell or Right LP.  I know Brand Nubian is back together and touring right now, but I would love for them to drop some new music.  Especially with all the fuckery going on in social media and politics.  There are plenty of folks out there that needs to be chin-checked.

Friday

JJ DOOM (MF DOOM/ Jneiro Jarel) - Guv'nor - {Official Video}

Originally one of the dopest groups alongside De La Soul and the Native Tongue crew, tragedy took away one KMD forcing the other member to go M.I.A. for several years.  After years of hibernation, MF DOOM arrived from depths and a legend was born. This time, he's spittin' over eerie HipHop instrumentals similar to the Jneiro Jarel collaboration.  MF DOOM's rap style is way before our time, you'll have to listen to his rhymes a few times in order to pick up on the many subliminal messages. Check out this classic single below it's one of my favorites.

Thursday

Saigon - "Plant The Seed" - {Official Video}

Saigon is doing what he normally does pokin' fun at fake Emcees on his Plant The Seed (What U Paid For) single.  With a career over 10 years, this Brooklyn native has always treated the Mic with integrity.  His respect for the art of HipHop is a characteristic most rappers do not possess.  It's more than just a way to get paid it's a lifestyle. I feel we should bring back the Temple of HipHop a place where you need to qualify in order to participate.

Wednesday

Rapper Big Pooh - "Friends" - {Official Video}

Rapper Big Pooh delivers on his classic single “Friends”, taken from his Fat Boy Fresh Vol 2 LP.  He muses, “they don’t love you, they know how to pretend, and these are the people that call themselves friends.” Producer Astronote provides a slow, expressive instrumental that adds emphasis to Pooh’s heartfelt words.

Originally a member of Little Brother, alongside Phonte and 9th Wonder, back when HipHop was dope and originality a requirement, not an option.  Y'all feel me "The Golden Era", I"m hoping Little Brother will one day reunite.  Individually they are a force to be reckoned with but together they are like Wu-Tang Clan

Tuesday

Blimes - "Hot Damn" - (Ft. Method Man) - {Official Video}

Blimes is one of those young dope Emcees who be spittin' hot fire, Method Man is one of those OG legends who know how to stay relevant in the game without wearing blackface.  I love when veterans embrace new talent because skill factor not because of a paycheck.  I did my homework Blimes got bars, and with further investigation Method Man only makes an appearance with REal artist NOT auto-tone lollipop hair wearing clowns.  And if you are offended sorry this is not the website for you.

Saturday

Jeff Bradshaw - "Got Til It's Gone" (Ft. Marsha Ambrosius & TWyse) - {Official Video}

It never ceases to amaze me how much HipHop meshes with all genre's of music.  In this Jeff Bradshaw classic, he shows one of the many examples.  It's the reason why HipHop is copied and imitated in all walks of life, music, art, and film.  This weekend we celebrate by featuring HipHop influenced music.

Friday

R.A. the Rugged Man - "The Dangerous Three" (Ft. Brother Ali, Masta Ace) - {Official Video}

 Never have I witnessed a band of lyrical misfits come together in such a poetic way. R.A. the Rugged Man, Brother Ali, and Masta Ace are just three of the dopest Emcees in HipHop according to our sources.  Just another example how you don't need a "Record Deal" to be successful in HipHop.

Thursday

Killa Kyleon - "Killing Over Jays" - {Official Video}

Now I don't know about y'all but I love hardcore HipHop we need DMX to make a comeback.  But in the meantime, Killa Kyleon fills my hardcore rap cravings.  So when a hardcore artist starts rapping about conscious subjects, BooM, you can't go wrong.  I have my own reasons why I will NEVER own another pair of Jordans besides the obvious.  And if you are on welfare and you own a pair of these popular status symbols your priorities are off balance.

Wednesday

Bankai Fam - "Neva Run Away" - {Official Video}

If you are a fan of the Wu-Tang Clan, then Bankai Fam and their band of misfits right up your alley.  Their gritty, grimy, and belligerent style of lyrics takes me back to the Golden Era of HipHop.  You remember if anyone was caught NOT being original they would get a beatdown and ran up out of the industry?  Fast-forward 30 years to a time where being a non-talented copycat can when you a grammy.  Wow, no matter what they say all change is not good.

Sunday

CyHi The Prynce - "Nu Africa" (Ft. Ernestine Johnson) - {Official Video}

Today we bring y'all another underrated Emcee, CyHi The Prynce who is well known if you are a fan of REal HipHop.  If not, it's not your fault the industry was designed to keep REal artist broke and dependent on a record deal.  Nevertheless, CyHi if you listen to all of his name droppin' references is a close acquaintance of Kanye West and the G.O.O.D. Music movement.  If it wasn't for the internet these behind the scenes Emcees wouldn't be able to eat.  So remember to purchase DO NOT stream your favorite artist music.

Saturday

Fred The Godson - "Talkin' Bout Money" - {Official Video}

Underground phenom Fred The Godson has been on his grind for some years now.  This is just one of the classics from his City Of God Mixtape which is still in heavy rotation in my whip.  He has a B.I.G. feel to his music with the hardcore lyrics over a Nas beat.  Just another hidden gem we keep in our vault of Dope Emcees
