Fresh off the success of his latest project "ELmatic" which is a homage to Nas' "Illmatic", Elzhi spoke briefly on a series of topics, including his introduction to hip hop music, the benefits of today's music industry and the feedback received from "ELmatic". After years of commitment to his former group "Slum Village" and grinding to establish his solo career, it seems as though El is ready to take it to the next level. I'm definitely looking forward, to hear what's in store for him in the near future. In the meantime, take a moment to enjoy this video.
This dude is the truth most kats be sleeping on Styles but he is truly a master of the craft. Most people don't know about Styles P the family man but he holds his family down. I love to see REal men embrace their kids and take care of their families the way real men are suppose to do.

These new guys are really starting to impress me it appears we are getting away from the party songs and going after a more serious subject matter. XV is one of the few new guys I can get behind, don't get me wrong we still need rappers like Soulja Boy just not 24/7. HipHop is at its best when respect is shown to all of its genres not just one.
For the next battle out of the West for the 2012 Grand Prix we have Aspire facing off against New'l. Aspire is looking to bounce back from his loss to Daley while New'l is looking to stay on the winning path with his latest win over McNight at Frostbite. Who will get the W in this battle?

He took the time to speak on a range of topics relating to his life and music career including how he prefers to approach his music, connecting with his audience, being a parent/artist, working with Oddisee and more. He even spoke a bit on the growing DMV music scene. We had a great pleasure working with such a humble and talented emcee. yU's new album "The Earn" is now out on Mello Music Group and is also one of our favorite albums of 2011. When it comes to rhymes, flows, subject matter and beats, we believe this brother has the full package. He delivers well in all areas and we wish him the best of success as his career continues to grow. If you got the bread, feel free to go cop his album on itunes. In the meantime, check out this insightful interview with the man himself.

Out Da Box TV is proud to bring you our final Artist Episode of last year featuring the successful indie Hip Hop group "Tanya Morgan". We caught up with group members' Donwill and Von Pea recently to speak briefly about their new EP "You & What Army" as well as some of the other interesting projects they've got on the way. They also took the time to speak on why original member "Ilyas" is not currently with the group but assured fans that they all are still cool. Amongst other things, the duo also spoke on what they learned best from their solo experiences and releasing individual projects. One of the topics that stood out particularly though, was the group's take on having "a steady day job" vs "maintaining an artist career". There are definitely some interesting moments in this interview, that I'm sure viewers will be pleased with. Please take the time to watch and share with others who you think would be interested. I had a wonderful time working with Tanya Morgan and certainly look forward to the upcoming releases they are preparing for 2012. A new documentary about the life of reggae legend Bob Marley is hitting theaters today 4/20 as stoners worldwide celebrate. But the film focuses less on Marleys love for smoking ganja and more on the man behind the music including never before seen footage of Marley's early years growing up in Trenchtown, JA and his final days being treated for skin cancer in Germany. The documentary was directed by Oscar winner Kevin MacDonald (Last King of Scotland) and executive produced by Marley's eldest son Ziggy. We sat down with some of Marley's children and some of his many celebrity fans during the films junket and premiere to talk about the importance of the film and the impact Marley had on so many peoples live.

Out Da Box TV is extremely proud to bring you a special new interview with the unique and talented NY Emcee "Roc Marciano". After pursuing an interview with Roc for almost 2 years, we finally got the chance to speak with him, during his recent visit back to his hometown of NY. We captured quite a bit of interesting convo with Roc about his neighborhood upbringing, his music career, writing process, his love for the old NY and much more. This interview was so extensive that I actually had to split it into 2 parts. In this first part, Roc speaks more in detail about his creative writing approach and how growing up in NY helped to shape his sound. He also speaks on his successful solo album "Marcberg" and what inspired the creativity behind the project. Without a doubt, Roc is one of our favorite Emcees in hip hop today! So it was extremely a pleasure and an honor to build with the man himself. Please take the time to view this truly in-depth interview piece on the creative Hempstead, Long Island Emcee.
The legendary Queens rapper clears up an earlier incident where he called into Power 105.1 to identify Havoc's voice on an audio recording of him accusing fellow Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy of being gay. Really I don't care if he's gay or not but I must a admit he seems pretty guilty. Him trying to laugh it off like it doesn't mean anything to him is a joke. Because he is from the Era where anyone "Gay" would be done career wise. But like I said its not my business and even if he was it wouldn't take away from his skill he bring to the mic. I wish somebody just do a Kanye and just say fuck it..."I'm Gay and what...?
The next battle from CIA features the first two females to ever step foot on the KOTD Elite stage. Looney Divine repping the West Coast is looking to make an impact on the KOTD scene against MidWest's Young Gattas. Gattas is known for her hard hitting punchlines and clever wordplay and is set to deliver both in this battle. This was a massacre in my opinion Young G really got in that ass. What do you think?

As the urban scene is dominated by male artists the debaters got together to figure out whether or not females artists need a male co-sign in order to succeed. The following are a few questions the debaters were faced with: - Do females need a male co-sign? - Do people pay more attention to referrals from influential figures? - Who co-signed Ms. Dynamite? - Can female artists co-sign a male?

Mark my words if this has a great turn out I can see major corporations doing this for artist like Elvis, Michael Jackson, or even Jimmy Hendrix. There is a way they can make money off of this and I do believe people will pay top dollar to see their favorite artist "Live" in hologram form. Think about it...fanatics would go CRAZY at a hologram Michael Jackson...

It really pisses me off that emcees, producers, dj's etc...in the underground that don't get paid for all the efforts they put int to building this thing we call HipHop. This is the reason UnsungHipHop.Com was create to shine light on those who choose not to be apart of the corporate machine and remain independent.

This is image is both amazing and spooky at the same time, I can't even imagine how snoop felt on stage having to perform with the real Tupac. I would like to see O.D.B. in hologram too or maybe even Left Eye Lopez...why stop here. I'm sure this cost a lot of money for these few minutes memory lane.

Making beats 101 I remember I used to make beats back in 2002 on my Playstation 2 using MTv Music Generator feat. Funk Master Flex. Those were the good ol' days I used to sell those beats for 65.00 a track and no one knew I was using my PS2. Until one day an artist wanted to come by my house, so I had to reveal my secrets. That artist and I became partners he goes by the name Chuck "The Mad OX". Shout our to Femi The Dri Fish.

I never understood why people act like racism dosen't exist. The only people who say that are racist. Remember slot of people in the US will not speak out agaist racism because their friends and family are racist. They just try to make excuses, because if racist are bad people that means their dad, mom, uncle, brother....are ignorant people.
