Wednesday

James BKS - "New Breed" (Ft. Q-Tip, Idris Elba & Little Simz) - {Official Video}

Probably of the the most diverse collaborations in music this year.  With James BKS behind production Q-Tip, Little Simz, and Idris Elba on the mic, you would be surprised what they came up with.  But hey it's what we do on this site introduce some of the most dopest underground music we can find.

KOTA The Friend - "For Colored Boys" - {Official Video}

KOTA, is one of the dopest lyricists of his generation and without any hooks, his music still reaches the masses.  Hands down one of my top 10 Emcees next to Kendrick Lamar and J Cole.  This is more proof you don't have to follow any trends or industry standards to succeed in this business.

Monday

Murs & 9th Wonder - "God Black / Black God" - {Official Video}

Any real HipHop enthusiast knows you can NEVER go wrong with a Murs/9th Wonder collaboration.  Correct me if  I'm wrong but these two have more classics than Eric B & Rakim.  The point I'm trying to make is when you have great chemistry it gets better over time and these two are a perfect example of HipHop done right. #NoAutoTuneAllowed

Rapsody - "Ibtihaj" - (Ft. D'Angelo & GZA) - {Video}

Today we bring you another very underrated EmceeRapsody.  Like most artist we feature, Rapsody has over 10 years of proven credibility skills in the industry, yet no major exposure on the mainstream radar.  Oh yeah that's right she has too many clothes on and she speaks with intelligence.  The masses don't seem to like black women saying anything empowering.  But let's remember when we STOP supporting garbage it will seize to exist.

Wednesday

Kevin Gates - "Push It" - {Official Music Video}

Kevin Gates is probably one of HipHip's most misunderstood and very underrated lyricist.  His honesty gets him in hot water on social media but it's not like he's not saying what most people are afraid to say.

Nevertheless, he's a standup guy who doesn't bite his tongue to be politically correct, and that's why I rocks with this young King.  His music isn't for everybody but they always have a subliminal message that makes you think.  Check him out below and tell us what you think.

Saturday

Sampa The Great - "Black Girl Magik" (Ft. Nicole Gumbe) - {Video}

This Zambia born Emcee/Poet has taken the internet by storm. With her flamboyant African inspired attire and dope lyrics to match she is simply awesome.  Based out of Sydney, Australia this artist doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon.
Her visuals are so hypnotizing and her conscious driven lyrics are blistering with great clarity and depth.  All I can say is wow...!! Can you name another mainstream artist who is NOT getting naked on camera and talking about moneyhoes, or cars?  Exactly my point !!

Friday

NAS - "It Ain't Hard to Tell" (Cookin Soul Remix) - {Animated Cartoon}

See this is a perfect example of a classic HipHop song with timeless lyrics.  "It Ain't Hard To Tell" is probably over 30 years old yet the lyrics are still relevant today.  That's the difference between REal HipHop and Mumbo Jumbo Rap.  Nothing will top the art of spitting Bars when it's all said and done true art will always prevail.

Thursday

Teyana Taylor - "Gonna Love Me (Remix)" Ft. Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Raekwon - {Official Video}

Greetings REal HipHop heads, we just had to showcase this Golden Era tribute to HipHop starring Teyana Taylor.  Whom I didn't even know she was a singer alone with being an actor.  Needless to say, I noticed this remix due to the legendary ensemble from the WuTang Clan

 This single was done beautifully and respectfully highlighted old and new genre R&B/HipHop collaboration.  We need more young artist to embrace the veterans in the game.  Make sure you check this talented young woman out below and give respect to the Gods who did cameos plus laid down some phenomenal bars.

Monday

OSHUN - "Blessings On Blessings" - {Official Video}

It's an a true abomination that female rappers are narrowed down to one individual representing the culture.  There is a reason they don't shine the light on Emcees with a conscious, they can't control them.  Because dumb music don't insight riots or any form of justice, they just sell records.  Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying music with out a conscious merit is totally all bad.  But there needs to be more of a balance in the music industry,  I'm just here to make sure REal lyricist like OSHUN get the same recognition and credit those other mainstream clowns get.

Ari Lennox/J. Cole - "Shea Butter Baby" - {Official Music Video}

The marriage between HipHop and Soul music when done correctly has always been a staple in the urban community.  Before mainstream we had Jazz which sometimes included a singer and what was call "scatting" artist which was a early form of rap.

J. Cole and Ari Lennox does an excellent job at keeping this tradition alive.  I haven't heard something this dope since Method Man and Mary J Blige which is a certified classic.  Let us know who are your favorite HipHop & Soul collaboration.  Peace for now ...

Wednesday

Flying Lotus - "More" (Ft. Anderson .Paak) - {Official Video}

This week we are featuring one the dopest underground artist since Andre 3000, Flying Lotus.  What I like about Flying Lotus is that he's not afraid to push the envelope taking the culture to another level while staying true to its roots.  I sense a day we will be back in a new Golden Age of HipHop in the next 5 years.  We all know that REal art doesn't die it comes back around full circle.

Hopsin - "Picasso" - {Official Video}

Hopsin is one of those highly skilled underground lyricists who is highly misunderstood.  Being one of the smartest rappers in the game doesn't come with a whole lot of fan appreciation.  But they do last the test of time, Hopsin has proven himself time and time again.

Yet in my opinion, he has failed to capture the mainstream audience.  Don't get me wrong despite not being signed to a major label he has become a successful millionaire and probably has more money than your favorite rapper.  But if rappers were paid on lyrical content and complex bars he would be a billionaire. I've been a fan since the beginning when he sounded like the "Black Eminem ". I mean he did admit it was Em that inspired him to rap so yeah I can see why.  Just imagine a Hopsin and Eminem collaboration, now that would be epic.

Monday

BIG K.R.I.T. - “Energy” - {Official Video}

BIG K.R.I.T., another one of HipHop's most underrated artist in the game.  Even though he has had some commercial success to me it's not enough.  An Emcee of his caliber needs to be larger than life and as wealthy as King James (Lebron).
We need to support our conscious artist so they can create more content and not be tempted by the dark side of HipHip.  It took Jay-Z over twenty years and almost losing his wife and kids for him to make a fully conscious album.  He already admitted he would have been released a more "Woke" LP if he thought it would make him rich.

Wednesday

Sa-Roc - "Forever" - {Official Video}

Sa-Roc is the result of Real HipHop and Truth having a baby.  Probably my #1 favorite female Emcee over Lauryn Hill which says a lot for me.  I know most of y'all haven't heard of her before and it's cool "they" don't like intelligence done in black.  Not to mention she has more lyrical skills than all of the top mainstream rappers male or female.  I say this to say if we truly supported real talent, an artist like Sa-Roc would be as big as Michael Jackson.

Real artist are so underrated mainly because being educated is not the narrative they promote, they want hard workers, not smart ones.  We seem to be forever stuck in this dumbed down version of HipHop and it is disgusting.  Before I go off on one of my long rants because this topic makes me upset.  When you know better, do better it's the only way to move the culture and our people forward, peace.

Saturday

Stormzy - "Shut Up" - {Official Video}

Stormzy, another UK rapper who has been lightin' up the internet with his pen.  Before you know it our UK brothas will surpass us in the skilled lyricist department.  Don't get me wrong auto-tune has its place but every lowlife wannabe shouldn't be doin' it.  But hey I guess its better than knockin' some old lady down and taking their purse.

Sunday

Chris Rivers - "I Just Wanna Rap" (Ft. Nitty Scott MC & Whispers) - {Video}

When Chris Rivers first set out on his grind to establish his name in HipHop we featured his freestyle on Sway In The Morning.  The son of Legendary Emcee Big Punisher was determined not to ride is fathers coattails by using his own name.  The plan worked, before announcing his royal bloodline he gains respect in the streets for being Lyrical Beast.  Ironically he sounds like his dad and at this rate, he will surpass his father's success.

Friday

Bas - "Clouds Never Get Old" - {Official Video}

This artist was brought to my attention a couple of months ago.  Bas kinda reminds me of a De La Soul version of Rick Ross, wait for it.......riiigght lol.  I love the simple things he raps about along with his lyrical skills and creativity.  If I'm correct this is one of J Cole's homeboys who has featured on a couple of his singles.  Take a listen below and tell us what you think.

Wednesday

Talib Kweli / 9th Wonder - "Every Ghetto" (Ft. Rapsody) - {Video}

Once again REal HipHop at its' finest, with the likes of Talib Kweli, 9th Wonder, Rapsody, and Hi-Tek how can you ever go wrong.  If they had one more legend on this track they would have formed Voltron.  But nevertheless, this track is flawless from Bars to Beat everything is on point.  This is HipHop in its purest form...period.

Lil Dicky - "Professional Rapper" (Ft. Snoop Dogg) - {Official Video}

Now I know I'm a little late with this Lil Dicky post but hey, I must admit this Jewish kid got skills.  There aren't too many non-black Emcees who catch my attention, I mean I know they exist but a lot of rappers follow the norm which is not my cup of tea.  With the presence of Snoop Dogg, it gives him an extra stamp of approval because I know Snoop don't just feature on just anybody's track.

Saturday

J. Cole - "NBA All-Star Show" - {Live Performance}

J Cole definitely one of my favorite Emcees of his era, watching his growth as a lyricist and a man was amazing.  I remember he was in Dave Chappelle "Block Party" not as a performer but in the audience.
Later I learn Talib Kweli & Mos Def were two of his mentos before J Cole was a household name.
His music will last the test of time, being that he writes his own lyrics, make his own beats, and produce other artists.  He will get "The Bag" one way or another, what is live performance below and tell us what you think.

Friday

WestSideGunn - "Mr. T" (Prod by Apollo Brown) - {Official Video}

It was brought to my attention that we only feature so-called "conscious" rappers.  Not true we look at skill first content second and then the beat.  As a matter of fact, I love the genre of hardcore street rap the most.                                                                                                                                                                      WestSideGunn is one of the few street dudes who does it right.  But I'm sorry if you claiming to be "Gangsta" but wearing pink poker-dot leggins, Hell No!

Apollo Brown gets overshadowed a lot from that other major artist in Detriot, his beats are even better than Mr. Kardashian's.   Apollo is great at picking out the dopest lyricist to work with.  WestSideGunn is just another testament to that, check'em out below.

Thursday

T.I. - "F**k Nigga" (Floyd Mayweather Diss) - {Audio}

Ok, let the record show this is the first time ever we have feature King of South lyricist T.I.  It's never happened before simply because I didn't like his music earlier in his career. Tip got my attention the album he made before going to prison "Paper Trail".  Fast forward I was more impress by T.I. the entrepreneur over T.I. the rapper.

Well, those days are gone I can relate more to his music now that his music has matured to my liking.  This one hits home for me truly HipHop in its purest form.  First Jay - Z now Tip what other mainstream artists will transcend into the "Conscious" Rap community?

Saturday

Rock (Heltah Skeltah) - "Shine Down" (Ft. Kofi Black) - {Official Video}

I'm glad to see Rock is back on the grind for lyrical supremacy, ever since he lost his other half (Sean Price) he has regained new energy for HipHop.  Hands down one of the dopest baritone voices in the game, not too long ago he was on a bit of a hiatus from the spotlight.  I look forward to hearing what other projects he will be working on, but in the meantime check him out below his skills are still flawless as ever.

Friday

Jay Rock - "Vice City" (Ft. Black Hippy) - {Official Video}

Now I know Black Hippy may not be Unsung with all their global success, but Jay Rock is.  Not to mention I was featuring Kendrick and the Gang on UnsungHipHop before he blew the F#@! up.  I'd like to say we had something to do with that but nahh. Dr. Dre has connections...lol.  Either way, this is a dope track I like to listen to, I hope you feel the same.

Wednesday

Styles P - "Never Fight An African" - {Official Video}

Styles P is one of the great legends in HipHop. (Random Fact: Before the group, The Lox signed with Puffy they were called The WarLox.)  Styles P is known for spitting street knowledge about life in the hood and he is proof veteran HipHop artist can strive without negative lyrics or signed to a major label.

I must admit I wasn't a fan earlier in his career I couldn't relate to his lyrics and I was on my De La Soul tip.  But now I'm a true fan of his music and his movement of living a vegan lifestyle.  It's amazing where human growth can take us with time and maturity.  Check out the visuals to his latest single below and tell us what you think.

Monday

Sa-Roc - "Mami Wata" - {Official Video}

All hail the true Queen of HipHop, being popular or rachet doesn't make you the best.  This Queen has been in power since 2012 but because she speaks positively about black empowerment artist like her don't get the media "push" those other reality HipHop clowns get.  Sa-Roc is the best female Emcee for almost a decade.

She has the skill, the look, the dope in-depth lyrics that will put you in an educational trace of black history.  She is probably thousands of years ahead of our time just like Common.  And one day they will read about her in scripture a thousand years from now. If you want to support REal HipHop start with Emcees that enlightened us not the buffoons the White Supremacist use to keep us in the dark.

Tuesday

Tobe Nwigwe - "EWU" - {Official Video}

What's good fam, we are back from our hiatus to bring you more dope underground, under the radar, and UnsungHipHop artist.  We thought to start up the new year with probably one of the most slept on artist Tobe Nwigwe.
While real HipHop heads like Sway, Erykah Badu, and Dave Chappelle showed Mr. Nwigwe some love most of those lame so-called "Black Radio" didn't give my man the proper acknowledgment.  But no problem that's why we are here just in case you missed this phenomenal talented brotha, his wife Fat and producer LaNell Grant. We featured one of our favorites joint off the The Originals LP.
