Grover Washington Presents: Return To The Classics "A New Hope" (Ft. Charisma) - Audio Download

Lancecape presents you the forth single off his new project Return To The Classics. "A New Hope" Grover Washington Ft. Charisma.
If you are a Hip Hop fan like Lancecape is, than this Grover Washington sample needs no introduction. From super groups like EPMD to Black Moon it was a clear cut choice why this sample was to be chopped for this project.

Lancecape called upon Scarborough native, producer/MC Charisma to lace a verse on this beat. Lancecape states "Just from the high hat pattern alone. I knew Charismawould be the best fit for this song". Lancecape was right. Charisma came in and slaughtered 24 killer bars. With a dope flow and ill lyrics, Charisma did nothing less than justice to this Lancecape production.

John Wize - "Project 1.0" (Producer Tape) - Free Download LP

PROJECT1.0j (1)
Project 1.0" is John Wize' first official release, even though he has been making music for over seven years now. John Wize, member of the Stereo Crew, is a producer and occasional vocalist from Detroit and has lend his production skillz to not only his crew members Stereo Boyz but also local artists Supa Emcee, Valid, Side Notes Marvin Winans and others.
John Wize did not only want to make a beat tape, but wanted to introduce his music all around, so he put together a compilation of instrumentals and full tracks (featuring Stereo Boyz, Perfect Eclipse, B-Side and more), with every song on the project produced by him.
John Wize is a fan of 90s Hip Hop as well as Soul Music and anything that he feels will make a good sample. His influences are the likes of Curtis Mayfield, J.Dilla, Isaac Hayes, Pete Rock as well as Kanye West.
About his vision for his music he says: "I want to pay homage to my influencers and at the same time teach my generation about the art of sampling".

"Project 1.0" is a well rounded project, with beats & rhymes for all hip hop heads alike. Check it out and grab your free download below.

Singles Review  ‘ Tell Me Why’

" ‘Not to be confused with the record label with the same name, The Wah Wah Collective come through with their second 12” release, and it’s the best so far. Fiona Faye’s vocals fit really nicely in to this downtempo jazz ditty with its tender fender rhodes and soulful strings. Perfect after-hours listening."

The Wah Wah Collective is right now what you could call a Trans-Atlantic group with beats from London & France and with vocals and production also stemming from Italy and the US. The Wah released vinyl only EP's and Singles in the mid-00's gaining some notoriety for their mixture of neo-soul with alternative dance. Several titles from the Wah Wah Collective roster were supported with UK Regional Radio airplay on shows such as Rosie Kendrick(Late Lounge) (Jazz/Smooth 102.2 FM (UK)), Patrick Forge (The Cosmic Jam – Kiss 100 FM (London)) and also on US radio withRafe Gomez, The Groove Boutique Jazz show on KJZY FM (New York).

Masters Of Ceremony Touring With Raekwon On The F.I.L.A Tour

Inline image 1
After a great deal of work, investments and self devotion; Masters of Ceremony is finally getting their chance to rise up and perform across the Canadian market with The Chef him self Raekwon. The duo previously known as raw illest continues to leaves their fans, friends and family members wondering what they will accomplish next. After the release of their latest self titled EP "Masters Of Ceremony" the urge to get on the stage began to surface. With the help and dedication of New Media Records and their management team lead by their 5 year long manager Joferson Blanco; the duo soon found themselves preparing for their biggest obstacle yet. From time to time it may seem like rappers are mostly speaking about themselves, how ever the truthful meaning behind their art can be far more than most could interpret. Masters of ceremony strives towards a much bigger goal while facing the adversities of making their music sound socially acceptable. This duo unlike most others portrait a sense of awareness for the musical content, "We seek to awaken the masses by encouraging the pursuit of ones goals and ambitions". Abstrakts' unique ability to captive and entertain aligned with his counterpart Grenades' lyrical metaphors makes this an interesting duo to watch perform. If your looking to watch the duo perform you can catch them as the special guess performers on Raekwons' F.I.L.A (Fly Luxurious International Art) tour. With the support of their official sponsors Pangea Life Essential and HRTLS Design Co and their official DJ 1oak (1 of a kind) from Los Angeles, this tour will be one to be remembered!

Rilgood - “Corrupter” (Prod by kechPhrase) - Audio Download

Here's the second leak off Rilgood's upcoming "Kingdom" Mixtape due out later this summer. The song touches on the nature of dictatorship and corruption that took place in Nigeria and many African countries for the past few decades. Instead of being preachy, Rilgood wrote the record with the attitude and disposition of the corrupt African leaders while maintaining the Brooklyn aura. This is what Real HipHop is all about check him out below.

Ugly Heroes - "Ugly" (Ft. DJ Eclipse) - Audio Download

Ugly Heroes releases bonus track to announce release of their self-titled album on VINYL!!!

Detroit's most consistent producer, Apollo Brown, comes through with his trademark sound - brassy horn chops, vinyl crackle, and layered drums that knock just right.  Definitely turn this one up and let Apollo's production  bump at it's head-nodding, face scrunching best.

Red Pill jumps out first with a quick shout to Mello for making the deal on this record: "It ain't a major deal yet, but it ain't minor shit / got the industry by the throat with an iron grip."  By :53 seconds in Pill puts a sock in all those armchair comment box reviewers mouths with a display of lyrical wordplay that I'll leave you to unravel on the repeated rewind.  After the verse, DJ Eclipse lays a gorgeous scratch hook, reminding people Ugly Heroes is Ugly as ever.

The second verse finds Chicago veteran Verbal Kentchoking listeners out with their livestrong bracelets.  Verbal proves he's a bad dude like Erykah... knocking your wheaties bowl offa the table, liftin you up and literally throwin' you offa the label.  Then at 2:16 Mr. Kent decides to jump it up a notch and match Pills tongue twisting throw down with another display that leaves your pause button worn.

Before it's over Apollo masterfully brings it back to a sit down soul stirring conversational tone.

Sundance Channel Picks Up 50 Cent & Jamie Oliver's Reality Show 'Dream School' - (Article)

50 Cent's empire continues to expand. Variety reports that the Sundance Channel has picked up six hour long episodes of his andJamie Oliver's reality show "Dream School."  Oliver originally created the format in the U.K. The uplifting reality show centers on troubled teens who are inspired to turn their lives around as they are taught by leading professionals in different fields, be it musicians, politicians, filmmakers or scientists.
The series of 'Dream School' we did in the U.K. was one of the things I’m most proud of. We literally changed the lives of many of the kids for the better," Oliver said. "Despite being told in school that they would never achieve anything, they were actually very gifted at art or acting and went on to achieve great things."
The program is being executive produced under Oliver's Fresh One Prods banner and 50's G-Unit Films and TVAndrew Jamesonand Jonathan Grosskopf are also on board as executive producers.
The importance of ‘Dream School’ is monumental. Helping to inspire these students to reach their potential is personally gratifying",”50 said.  Forget about what people say about 50, he is one of the few rappers who profit off of products that help and empowers people.

Out Da Box Radio Sits Down With Apollo Brown - (Audio)

This week Out Da Box Radio did a special interview with Michigan based Mello Music Group Producer “Apollo Brown”. We were fortunate to speak with Apollo a few weeks ago to discuss specifics about his music history and recent career success. He took the time to speak in-depth about how he got his start and who some of his influences were in music. We also got a chance to reflect on some of his recent successful projects, like the “Trophies LP” with O.C., The Guilty Simpson Project (Dice Game), and this year’s collabo project with Ghostface and Ugly Heroes. Apollo also took a moment to give some insight into his studio set up and equipment range by noting his preference towards using more minimalist/vintage equipment which he feels is best suitable for his style and just as effective as any updated software or new piece of music equipment. Apollo also reflected on what it was like to produce an Alternate version of Ghostface Killah’s “TRTD” Album A.K.A(The Brown Tape) stating that he had never heard of the original version and it felt like he was recording the music backwards, by having to produce around the pre-recorded vocals. In closing, Apollo brought us up to date on his latest collabo group project with emcee’s Verbal Kent and Red Pill better known as “Ugly Heroes”. It was a great pleasure to speak with such a talented and accomplished producer of our time. With so much great music already under his belt, I can only see further progress and success on this brother’s journey. I certainly wish him the best as he continues to grow musically in the future. Definitely feel free to pick up some of his recent releases over a mellomusic when you get a chance. In the meantime be sure to check out our insightful radio interview with Apollo Brownhimself.

"The bands performance at the Sowebo Arts & Musical Festival was interactive, high energy, and fun. No need for lights, fog machines, or anything else to help enhance their show. Music and lyrics, that was it. It was refreshing to see a superb bare bones performance from a band. Not only that, but a superb performance by a band that wasn’t the headliner and whose set time was in the middle of the afternoon. That’s rare."  — Anthony Washington, MetroMontage.com
