Wednesday

R.I.P. Prodigy Throwback Mix - {Video}

 R.I.P. Prodigy 1974-2017
Through all the controversy of Prodigy's death I decided to post something positive.  I was not originally a Mobb Deep fan simply because when they hit the scene I was more into De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, and Digable Planets type artist.  So artist like Mobb Deep and Heltah Skeltah weren't on my radar at the time.
By the late 90's early 2000's I was searching for deeper lyrical content because P. Diddy and his band of "sparkling suit wearing" Emcees had taken over the mainstream airwaves.  That's when I started my underground HipHop collection of the dopest lyricist and Mobb Deep were one of those legendary groups.  R.I.P Prodigy your word smith'in and raw talent will surely be missed in.

Tuesday

Rapper Big Pooh - "Augmentation" (Prod by Apollo Brown) - {Official Video}

You can hear just hear his pain on "Words Paint Pictures", Big Pooh’s debut release for Mello Music Group. The North Carolina native captures the complex agonies of the human condition, specifically the black experience in America over the last several centuries. These are tales of racial profiling and corrupt politicians, reality TV distractions, thieving preachers and rapacious exploitation. Big Pooh as always been a no nonsense type of Emcee even back during his Little Brother days.  REal HipHop heads are glad to see him back and doing what he was destine to do, make sure y'all go support real music.

Monday

Fab Soares - "Nothing but rhymes" - {Audio}

Fab Soares contains a classic old school HipHop style that comes with a charismatic delivery and entertaining lyrics. Viewers can always get a strong feel for Fab Soares's personal style and also seeing a great glimpse of his character.

Fab's EP entitled "Nothing but rhymes" is a project for the underground HipHop audience.  I'd like to say the main stream too but let's face it they are not rocking anything REal.  Remember when we support the artist we love they are able to give us more.  For a revolution we need restitution.

Saturday

ILLClinton - "Don't Play With God" - {Audio}

Georgia's dynamic duo, ILLClinton, "Don't Play With God", continuing their weekly series of brand new releases, entitled #ILLClintonTuesdays. "Don't Play With God" shows ILLClinton continuing to elevate their ever growing, authentic sound. Brennan, show sings over the hook and displays some raps over the jazzy Blake Belair instrumental. These brothers from down south are breaking the stereotype of southern HipHop, "Don't believe me just listen..." below.

Friday

Drew Dave - "Full Circle" - {Video}

Producer Drew Dave visuals to his first track Full Circle”, off his debut album on Mello Music Group Label. Which wasn't too long ago, I remember thinking wow some kats still fight to keep REal HipHop alive....great.  I may be a little bias because he is from the DMV like myself but when I heard that yU recommended him to MMG I just knew he was the real deal.

Thursday

Joey Bada$$ - "Like Me" - {Official Video}

One thing I can say about Joey Bada$$, he is proof that every 20 years we get some really dope Emcees.  This is evidence that true artist are born not manufactured, 1999 was the year Mos Def released his solo album ironically it was the same title as Joey's mixtape.  If you don't know anything about Joey Bada$$ it's probably because you still listen to that garbage on the radio "they" call HipHop.  Do yourself and REal HipHip a favor and turn that S#@! off.  Between Black Hippy in the West and Pro Era in the East, Real HipHop is about to take over the mainstream.

Wednesday

Large Professor - "Own World" - {Official Video}

The legendary Emcee/Producer Large Professor aka Xtra P, drops some visuals for his b-side single off the “In The Scrolls”12 Inch record. “Own World” is on Large Professor’s LP  “Re:Living” which should be dropped not to long ago. If you don't know who Large Professor, then you're not a true HipHop Head, he's the man behind the album Illmatic and Nas's mentor.

Tuesday

Axel F. (JRocc&MED) - "Searching" - {Official Video}

This joint from the always dope J. Rocc & MED better known as Axel F, off their group album“Theme Music” is one of my favorite underground cuts.  No one really puts it down like this anymore with those fly jazz loops in the background.  Checkout the visuals for "Searching" and tell us what do you think.

Monday

Cam'ron & A-Trak - "Dipsh*ts" - {Official Video}

A-Trak and Cam'ron are back at it again with "Dipsh*ts" featuring uncut Cam'ron slick talk over triumphant instrumental blasts  also produced by Just Blaze.  Reppin' Dipset,  Juelz Santana on the hook, Jim Jones with a cameo appearance  and "Champagne Dame" (aka Federal Reserve executive producer Damon Dash) providing a legendary song closing rant, you know how he do.  Just another dope joint from Cam, he releases dope singles and EP's then he dips out of the lime light like, "Keyser Söze" off the The Usual Suspects.  I'm still hoping for a Dipset reunion album...lets keep our fingers cross.

Sunday

iMav (International Maverick) - "Do It All" - {Video}

After a brief hiatus iMav(International Maverick) returns with his 12th self produced track and visual release titled ”Do It All’‘ from his highly regarded ”Dreem KatcherEP.  The video was directed and edited by his right hand man Work Nowitzki, which captures a more sensitive side iMav.  He does a great job using samples from some of Motown Legends The Temptations and The Supremes "Im Going To Make You Love Me".  Make sure ya'll checkout iMav catalog and keep supporting REal underground HipHop

Saturday

Lyfe Jennings - "Pretty Is" - {Official Video}

 Lyfe Jennings single, "Pretty Is" from his sixth studio album, Tree Of Lyfe. This song celebrates all women by empowering them with the notion true beauty is within.  Back in 2004, Lyfe captivated countless listeners worldwide with his seminal platinum-selling debut Lyfe 268-192. Since then, the singer and songwriter created four more critically acclaimed albums.  He's the only R&B singer who consistently sing about conscious issues he NEVER compromises his image or message to make a dollar.  Now that's a REal artist who chooses to go the right way instead of the easy route.

Friday

Mega Ran & Storyville - "Artillery" - {Official Video}

Mega Ran and Storyville return to their battle-rap roots (both are former Scribble Jam Battle finalists in 2008) in a trippy high-tech video that includes digital boxing gloves, retinal scans and even a DeLorean.
These visuals were directed by Luis Perez and Ben Levy, Ran and story drop punchline after impressive punchline on "Artillery," over a hypnotic horn-driven soulful loop accented by piano keys, produced by Small Pro.
Their album "Soul Veggies," debuted at #47 on the Billboard Indie Charts and is available on iTunes

Rav.P - "melanated thoughts" - {Audio}

Whats next for Rav.P? Well after collabing with the Kush God himself the BFSH team decided to release some hidden jewels done by Rav.  While doing a collab project with Swerve916 , Rav is also worked on his solo EP called "slave name TODD".  This joint is solely produced by Rav, he released it in a 3 part series not too long ago.

Wednesday

Oddisee - "The Good Fight" - {Audio}

In a landscape overrun with over indulgence and shallow trend-chasers, the Prince George’s County, Maryland artist Oddisee creates "The Good Fight", a record that reminds you that it’s music before it’s HipHop.  Not many artist are capable of reinventing themselves with each new album, but that it what separates Oddisee from most Emcees.  Checkout is this oldie but goodie below and don't forget to support your local underground artist.

Tuesday

Keaton Henson - "Teach Me" - {Official Video}

http://25.media.tumblr.com/a647bc483ab1ff0dcb15e248472b0714/tumblr_mkh55wjIIh1r4rzswo1_500.jpg
Keaton Henson's stunning second album, "Birthdays", is a follow-up to 2012’s critically acclaimed "Dear...".  At just 24 years old, Keaton Henson’s songs, artwork and poetry are known by hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Yet he is a virtual stranger, whose anonymity is no accident. Keaton has never posted on social networks, has not played live until very recently, and barely leaves his hometown or his bedroom. If you wanted him you’d have had to find him as many fans did for instance during "Gloaming" the celebrated exhibition of Keaton’s illustrative work, which saw him play one-on-one for each attendee within a dollhouse.  But whilst he may be delicate, this is no wallflower: Keaton’s songs are as brutal as they are beautiful.  This is a very strange video but song is ever so beautiful.

Saturday

Steph Jones - "Southern Love" - {Official Video}

This is one of favorite joints from a few years ago, Steph Jones is a very talented singer now turned fitness guru and life coach.  Some may think he was crazy for leaving the music business behind, but in life you have to do what makes you happy.  Almost sounding like a young Maxwell on this joint right here, this is a great song.

Friday

Red Pill - "Ten Year Party" - {Official Video}

Red Pill visuals for his single "Ten Year Party", takes me back to when mainstream HipHop was more diverse.  What ever happen to being yourself?  What ever happen to if you sounded like some other Emcee you would get no airplay or support? Man.. how things have changed, anyway Mello Music Group is practically keeping REal HipHop alive.  We have more dope sh$! coming out of Mello Music camp just wait and see.

Thursday

The Black Opera - "Queen Of Hearts" (Ft Mayer Hawthorne) - {Audio}

  One of my favorite albums by The Black Opera is "Queen of Hearts" off at XXL for Valentine's Day.  The track is a mellow introspective rundown of all the things that "She" is, or could be, to her King.  Who is "She"?  Decide for yourself.  The Black Opera and fellow creator Mayer Hawthorne, who is featured on the hook of this track, each have their own interpretation of the perfect "Queen of Hearts".
Mayer Hawthorne, who has coined his new-school Motown sound, adds a spicy eloquence to the track while the TBOG's speak on who their ideal Queen is, and who she isn't.  Lines like "She could be my Queen to be" are greatly opposed by others such as "Im not tryina make a hoe a baby momma, drama".  This song is more than your average Valentine's Day bullshit.  Treat your girl to the MP3 of "Queen of Hearts", not dinner at the Sizzler tonight, player.
Message From The Black Opera:

"While in search of his Queen of Hearts, or some would say, KUEENZ of Heart, the King was not very trusting with any of his beautiful possibilities.  Once he learned how to trust himself, then and only then, was he able to trust and L O V E Without A Limit."

Wednesday

The Four Owls - "Silent Flight" - {Official Video}

When The Four Owls dropped "Silent Flight" off their album"Natural Order" I didn't feel it got the recognition it deserved.  Producer Leaf Dog did his thing with a little help from DJ Premier and features from Dirty Dike, Jam Baxter, Smellington Piff & DJ and Sammy B-Side. There was a question online the other day, "Are UK Rappers Better Lyricist?".  My answer is not necessarily, remember HipHop started in New York back in the 70's since then our mainstream HipHop has been corrupted by big corporations.  So in other words it's like the UK artist are going through their 90's Era/Golden Age oF HipHop and their culture have not been contaminated by the corporate execs as much as ours has.  Not all US artist are caught in The Matrix we still have artist like CommonKendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Lupe Fiasco, Chance The Rapper and J. Cole just to name a few, holding down REal HipHop in the Mainstream.  But our Underground HipHop are on the same level as the UK's mainstream.

Tuesday

Danny Delavie - "The Motive" - {Audio}

Displaying The motive promotion.jpg
Danny Delavie dropped this dope single, “The Motive” produced by ThiefOfBaghdad, featuring Virginia based artist, Shenna not too long ago. It tells a story of confliction between money & doing what you love all while staying true to yourself. Danny's conversationally style rap runs all through this masterpiece of word collaboration.  Young blood has bars for days...check him out below.

Monday

Neph - "Viceroy" (Ft. Prevail Wonder) - {Official Video}

Neph & Prevail Wonder are a perfect example of some REal HipHop S#@!!, I just love when real talent comes together to create something awesome.  Make sure you support your local Emcees who represents uplifting the community not exploiting it for personal gain.  With the help from producers Rob The Viking and Devy-D, this track will be in heavy rotation on my playlist.

Sunday

UnsungHipHop Presents: "The Cypher #1" (Ft. Kid Named NOVA, Chocolate Brown, & Phreshh Phleaux) - {Video}

It's not everyday you meet Emcees quite like those from New York, especially in underground HipHop. On this first UHH Cypher we have Kid Named NOVA, Chocolate Brown, and Phreshh Phleaux, I sware NY is the only place where you have several different genres of HipHop in the same city.  This is one of the illiest cyphers I've heard in awhile, check them out below and tell us what do you think.

Saturday

Eric Lau - "The Mission" EP - {Audio}

Eric Lau is a British music producer and DJ from London. His production style is characterized by heavy drums, often unrecognizable samples and a mixture of live and sequenced instrumentation.
He first gained exposure with the song "Im Fine" featuring Rahel on Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Bubblers (Part 4).  This is one of my favorite EPs released by Eric, I hope you guys like it too.

Friday

A Day In The Life Of Rav. P - {Video}

After opening up for Joel Ortiz on the Human tour at Santos House NYC, Rav.P put out this dope freestyle over a Alchemist beat just for the hell of it.  How many Emcees do you know who goes out of their way just to be themselves?  Well that's the kind of Emcee Rav.P is take it or leave he yields to no other trend by himself.
