Tuesday

MF DOOM - "Books of War" (Ft. RZA) - {Audio}

This is one of the dopest collaborations I've heard in awhile since Red & Meth.  I'm a huge fan of both these legendary icons in HipHop so my commentary may be a bit one-sided. When was that last time you've heard a dope artist/producer and another dope artist/producer make music together?  I'm a fan of REal HipHop and that's what MF DOOM & The RZA represents. Checkout the Masters of Ceremonies below..!

Monday

Devine Carama - "Thorns In My Crown" (Ft. Deacon The Villain) - {Audio}

Last October Devine Carama released a Boom Bap lyrics smorgasbord album, "Kingtucky". Continuing that momentum, he is releasing "Kingtucky: Break Loops & B-Sides" which features exclusive remixes of Kingtucky songs as well as brand new tracks that was left off the original version. The track "Thorns In My Crown", features CunninLynguists front man and long time collaborator Deacon The Villain.  This is underground HipHop at its finest..!!

Sunday

Landon Brown - "Again" (Bobbi Kristina Brown Tribute) - {Official Video}

After watching the New Edition Story on my DVR, it made me do a little research on some unanswered questions.  Landon Brown was one of those questions, I never knew he was also in the entertainment business taking after his dad (Bobby Brown).  He actually got skills so the apple didn't fall too far from the tree.  This is a heartfelt ballet he wrote for his beloved sister Bobbi Kristina Brown.

Saturday

Preach - "Heaven 2 Hell" - {Official Video}

Preach-Social_FINAL_small
Preach Muzak, is a artist who currently lives in Atlanta, GA by way of Phoenix, AZ, and working with Bangladesh Productions. He has spent a significant time in the music industry paying his dues but now he has his own independent label, New Dynasty Enterprises.  Checkout the video below for "Heaven 2 Hell", it's pretty dope.

Thursday

ANTHM - "Handful Of Dust" EP (Prod. by Blu) - {Audio}

When ANTHM dropped his collabo project with Blu as his alter ego Godlee Barnes on production it was one of HipHop's greatest moments. Blu should have been the next big thing to come out of California before Kendrick Lamar, but in HipHop to be mainstream it's about who you know not seniority or skills.

Tuesday

MistahNice - "Whiskybars" (Ft. Sean Price) - {Official Video}

It's been almost 2 years since the passing of Sean Price and I still can't believe he's gone.  Sean had the kind of talent that only comes around every few hundred years.  Just when you think you've heard everything, some "lost" track appears out of nowhere.  Sean P. was one of the most talented Emcees in the game, his lyrics will forever been remembered and respected.

Monday

A Tribe Called Red - "R.E.D." (Ft. Yasiin Bey, Narcy & Black Bear) - {Official Video}

Even though Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def) is not the most popular Emcee he's one of the top 5 lyricist of all time.  Like most of his fans I'm still waiting that Black Starr sophomore album reunion with Talib Kweli.  It's probably never going to happen, just like Dr Dre's Chronic II album.  Oh well, I will continue to support Bey no matter what, if he really retires he will be missed in HipHop

Saturday

DMX - "Slippin'" - {Video ThrowBack}

After years of struggle with drugs and alcohols it looks like DMX is on his way back to his former self.  I've always believed in DMX, his heart is as true as they come.  Addiction is a decease, and it should treated that way, not criminalize.  When I heard DMX had signed with Roc Nation, I knew him and Jay-Z were back cool again.  I'm hoping he makes the one of the greatest comebacks, HipHop really needs it..!!

Thursday

Tribe Called Quest - "We Got It From Here.. Thank You For Your Service" LP - {Audio}

What can I say that hasn't been said about this album already, another 2016 LP slept on by the mainstream media.  It started a little slow but after the third track it was "On like Donkey Kong".  I really felt the presence of Phife Dawg on this LP as if he was still here with us.  It felt more like a tribute album with all the legendary features, Busta Rhymes, Andre 3000, Consequence, Kanye, and Kendrick Lamar appearance was much appreciated.

Wednesday

Lupe Fiasco - "Jump" (Ft Gizzle) - {Audio}

Grammy award winning rapper Lupe Fiasco releases Jump feat. Gizzle via his own label 1st & 15th / Thirty Tigers today.

Jump, which features critically acclaimed female MC Gizzle and is produced by Lupe's long-time producer Soundtrakk (who produced Kick Push and Sunshine), was premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show. It is lifted from Lupe's forthcoming album Drogas Light (out 10th February 2017), which also features Pick Up the PhoneWild Child and Made In The U.S.A

Drogas Light is the first of a trilogy of albums (Drogas LightDrogas and Skulls) which will see Lupe Fiasco reach his creative peak – the final curtain call on one of the most gifted lyricists and visionaries to grace the mic.

Tuesday

Rahim Samad - "Tainted Love (I love it)" (Ft Blu & Georgia Anne Muldrow) - {Audio}

With help from some of California's finest, Tampa Emcee Rahim Samad @RahimSamad ) teams up with Los Angeles Blu (@HerFavColor) & L.A soul/Funk singer/artist Georgia Anne Muldrow (@JAHJAHMULDROW) for his new soulful single "Tainted Love"(I love it).  Before Kendrick Lamar blew up there were a few artist that paved the way.

Saturday

Elzhi - "Lead Poison" LP - {Audio}

 I can appreciate Elzhi and recognize him as one of the most Elite but slept on Emcees. He say the kind the s#@! that makes you say "This is why I fell in love with HipHop!" On his new album “Lead Poison” , he effortlessly proves that he is one of the best lyricist in the game. After such a long wait, I was a little concerned because I’m such a lyric head. But as usual Elzhi never disappoints rhyming wise and the production is on point as well.  Make sure ya'll go out and support REal HipHop below.

Friday

U.G. - "Portals" LP - {Audio}

This one almost flew under my radar, I mean wow everything you could ever want from HipHop album is here thanks to U.G.  It's a rare occasion when you can just allow the album to play without any skips.  This project was well planned and well executed, "Listen boys & girls"  this is what a REal artist sounds like.   Checkout the sampler below.

Thursday

Torae - "Entitled" LP - {Audio}

Ok so this album came out at the top of 2015! But this joint is so timeless to my ears, it's rare to hear a well put together project.  I just loved his honesty and loyalty for the HipHop artform on this. The opening song “Imperial Sound” set a nice tone for the album, then we got the ill lyrical contribution from emcee Phonte on "Clap Sh*t Up". The song "Coney Island’s Finest" took us back to Tor’s upbringing in his hometown highlighting all of the ball players and entertainers that made it out of the Brooklyn Neighborhood. Make sure y'all check it out below.

Wednesday

Netousha Monroe x Rav.P - "TINMAN" - {Official Video}

We bring you today two underground phenoms from two different genres of music.  Rav. P is my dude been following his career for many years now, Netousha I just got familiar with but her reputation speaks for itself.  We need more underground artist stick together so we can truly lock down the industry.  Mainstream HipHop wouldn't exist without underground artist.

Tuesday

Que Billah - "Illuminati By Nature" - {Official Video}

I was listening to one of my favorite podcast InsideTheCave with CB and his band of misfits who put me down with Chicago native Que Billah.  It was refreshing to see a REal authentic artist especially one who is conscious.  Don't get me wrong his rhymes aren't preachy, more like "Edutainment" style rap.  Similar to KRS-One who will rhyme about saving black people but will tell you how he'll crack you in the dome(lyrically) if you dissed him.....you feel me?  Make sure you give Que a listen below, he's a very creative Emcee.

Monday

De La Soul - "And The Anonymous Nobody" LP - {Audio}

We bring you another slept-on LP of 2016 from the Legendary De La Soul.  I'm hoping to see a Unsung documentary for De La who continue to reinvent themselves, this album is another testament to that.  Only REal HipHop Heads can appreciate these guys and how they influenced HipHop.  Maybe some of you "woke" Newjacks may get it as well.

Sunday

Kanye West - "New Slaves" (Remastered) - {Official Video}

When Kanye West released this new single years ago he did it in the most unusual way.  He released it via Projection Screen in 66 major cities across the globe, this version was done live on SNL.  After a series of Auto-tuned hits (which I didn't care for) I thought the "Old" Kanye was back.  Since that single dropped Kanye hasn't been the same, I hope he tackle his demons and get well soon.

Thursday

Rapper Big Pooh - "Stop" - {Official Video}

Rapper Big Pooh returns with a new video for the Apollo Brown produced track, "Stop." Pooh has dedicated this album to illustrating the complicated issue of race in America.

The new video tackles some of the more subtle and nuanced issues faced by Americans. So much is said through the media and so many troubling stories are passed down that being Black in America can mean being constantly on the defensive.

You can hear these eternal truths on Words Paint PicturesBig Pooh’s debut release for Mello Music Group. Over seven songs and two remixes, the North Carolina Emcee captures the complex agonies of the human condition—specifically the black experience in America over the last several centuries. These are tales of racial profiling and corrupt politicians, reality TV distractions, thieving preachers and rapacious exploitation—all offset by tremendous strength.   We are in a era where most black people want to "Turn up" and "Twerk" but that is a luxury we can't afford right now. With so despair in the black neighborhoods it's time to focus on the REal enemies and issues that plague us.  I wish we had more artist like Big Pooh who creates music to inspire the people rather than feed on their insecurities.

Tuesday

Ras Kass - " Intellectual Property: #SOI2" LP - {Audio}

I thought for the top of this year I would feature at least 10 albums most of ya'll slepted 0n 2016.  Rass Kass has always been a lyrical beast spitted over dope B-boy beats, it's a shame most new jacks don't appreciate REal skill.  So while some of ya'll adults are trying to be "hip" by doing the "Nay-Nay" with your child's favorite rapper, introduce your kids to some REal HipHop as well.

Monday

Timothy Rhyme - "Self Made" - {Audio}

Just as promised Timothy Rhyme, drops the first single off his "1st Of The Month" series.  Not too bad something you can cruise and nod your head to.  But what's most important to me is the lyrics, he does an excellent job at getting his point across without using Auto-Tune.  Dope lil Boom Bap track, make sure your check him out below.
