Lupe Fiasco - Power105.1 The Breakfast Club - Video

With a little under two months until the release of his highly-awaited fourth LP, Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, Lupe Fiasco is getting right into his busy press schedule. In NYC yesterday, the Chi-Town poet stopped by Power 105.1′s The Breakfast Club, where he spoke to DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God on a wide range of topics.
Lupe revealed that he plans to go down to the independent route after his contract with Atlantic Records expires, stated that he and Pete Rock didn’t fully squash their dispute over his “T.R.O.Y.” sample on “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)”, called 97% of rap “terrible” and dismissed most of today’s “lyricists” as simply rappers (thank you), and spoke on his own musical tastes and inspirations. Hip-Hop may be sixth on his list behind the likes of Jazz, Blues and Rock, but Lupe still loves Future‘s “Same Damn Time”.
Check out the interview in full below. Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 arrives on September 25th.
