2013 Grammy Awards Nominees Announced Frank Ocean Receives 6 Nominations

The nominees for next year’s Grammy Awards were announced last night (5th December), and the long list throws up some interesting battles for the honours.

Frank Ocean, Kanye West and Jay Z have all been nominated in six categories for The 55th Annual Grammy Awards, but they will have to hold off the likes of Mumford & Sons, Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and indie pop group Fun, who also lead the way with six nominations.

The hip hop and R&B categories also offer some intriguing duels. The Best Rap Album category pits the likes of Lupe Fiasco and The Roots against Drake, Rick Ross and 2 Chainz, whilst Jay and ‘Ye’s “N—-s in Paris” competes with ‘Ye and friends’ “Mercy” for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.

Meanwhile, RnB star Miguel finds himself nominated for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B song with “Adorn“, but won’t compete with R. Kelly and co in the Best R&B Album category.

On the homegrown front, salute to Ed Sheeran who received the all important Record of the year nomination and Estelle received a nomination for Best R&B Performance.
