Eve is still adjusting to the fact that she's dating a white guy.
The former Ruff Ryder, who is recording a new album, recently sat
down for a chat with Hot 97 to discuss how things are in her life now.
For starters, the rapper has moved to London to live with her British
millionaire boyfriend Maximillion Cooper.
While she didn't mention how they met, she said they've been together
for more than three years and people still give her a little flack for
dating outside of her race.
"People came at me like, ‘I can’t believe you’re dating a white dude
and you don’t like black dudes no more.’ I’m like, ‘I love black men, it
just so happens that my heart went this way right now," she said,
adding that she really needs people to stop caring about the topic of
interracial dating all together.
Breaking the news to her parents was a whole different issue because
Eve characterizes her father as man that seems to follow the principles
of Louis Farrakhan. But as long as Max is treating Eve right, they've
got no problem with Eve's British beau. “My family is happy, though. [My
pops], he’s cool with it," the rapper shared. "He still keeps calling
him ‘my friend.’ He’s always like, ‘How’s your friend?’ I’m like, it’s
been almost three years [laughs]. But, it’s good.”
Still, Eve admits that being with Maximillion is out of the norm for
what she grew up with. "I gotta say, it is weird for me that I’m with a
white dude. Trust me," said Eve. While Max isn't the first White guy
she's been on a date with, being with Eve is really new for him, too.
"I look at him sometimes and I’m like, ‘You are so white.’
Seriously!"Eve joked, adding that she's had to school him about Black
women and our beauty rituals. " I’m the first black girl he’s ever been
with, so we are learning. Trust me, he’s been through Weave 101."
She added, "We learn a lot about each other.” One of the things Max
is still learning about is Eve's early days in the rap game, and it
seems he doesn't take her old image very seriously. He knows about Eve
being the Pitbull In A Skirt...and he thinks it's adorable. "He still
can't understand it. He thinks it's all cute, which also annoys me
sometimes," Eve shared. "He's like 'look how cute you are.' and I'm
like, 'Nah, I was hard!'"
And with the holidays upon us, DJ Angie Martinez was curious about
how Christmas with their families has been. Was it Guess Who? moment?
"It's different for him, but it's different for me too," said
Eve."Christmas dinner, I had to get used to parsnips and turnips, and
that's fine. They taste good, but you know it's different."
Eve's not quite as open to change with everything, though. "I do look
at him and be like, 'I can't believe I'm with a White guy,'" she said.
"I don't let him dance. It's not going down. I tell him, 'Look like a
pimp. I will dance around you.' I don't let him dance. He can do a lot
of things, but he cannot dance."
A rapper moving to London to be with her British boo sounds like a
plot line just made for reality TV, but don't expect Eve to have cameras
following her around any time soon. "I couldn't do it in a way that
they're in my face a lot," Eve explained. "Never say never, but not
right now."
Speaking of reality TV, her ex-boyfriend Stevie J caused quite a stir
on "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" this year. Eve can't say for sure
what
"I haven't watched it," Eve asserted. "I just can't allow myself, but
trust me when I tell you, people give me updates. What can I say. I was
young and dumb. What I hear is out of control."
One of the first people she heard from about the show—and about Stevie J's antics. Though she is loathe to admit it. Stevie was first love and none of the things she's heard about Stevie has come s a shock to her. "I'm not surprised. That's what makes it bad," said Eve, who still does't know what initially attracted her to Stevie on a romantic level even though she acknowledges his talent. "I can't even blame it on drugs or nothing. I wish I could!"
