In today’s musical eco-structure afflicted with over-polished images,
auto-tuned vocals and disposable content, the Birmingham hailing,
classically trained rising star Laura Mvula arrives like the antidote to the infested scene.
The beautiful RCA signed soul singer, songwriter and composer (Laura graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire with a degree
in composition), who grabbed our attention with the stunning “She” – a
stunning blend of delicate instrumentation, choir harmonies and
stirringly distinctive soul drenched vocals – oozes a credible, honest
and undeniable talent on record and live that has gained her accolades
all the way from the blogs to the broadsheets, comparisons to the likes
of Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse
(who she cites as a huge influence), a nomination for the 2013 BRIT
Award of Critics’ Choice and a growing army of fans and supporters
determined to she her light shine brightly across the globe.
With her debut album Sing To The Moon set for release on March 4th (featuring the incredible singles “Green Garden”, “Father Father“,
“Like The Morning Dew” and more), Laura is going to have to clear an
entire wall or two for the numerous awards she is set to sweep up this
year.
