Meek Mill joins the party fashionably late, finally delivering his official response to Kendrick Lamar‘s “Control” verse.
The Philly rapper certainly appears to be gathering as much momentum as possible in the run-up to the release of his upcoming Dream Chasers 3 mixtape, as this response follows up a diss track directed at Cassidy which surfaced two days ago – well he did say Kendrick was next right?
The weapon of choice this time around is a reworked version of Dr. Dre‘s
“Forgot About Dre” who ironically is Kendrick’s boss at
Aftermath/Interscope. Meek kicks off the freestyle all guns blazing,
elaborating on his notion that “I do it for the streets” and Kendrick
makes music “for the n***** with the backpacks”.
Heavy references can be found all over this one including TerRio‘s infamous “Ohh Kill Em!”, Kendrick’s gun sound-effect (found on “The Jig Is Up“) as well as Nas vs. Jay-Z and Biggie vs. 2 Pac
conflicts amongst others. Surprisingly this response is rather short,
at 2:22 in duration, and appears to sway more towards entertainment
value.
Take a listen to “Ooh Kill Em” below and let us know what you think.
