The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania duo of Crumb and JustTraxx better known as Dope Means are unveiling their debut LP “Government Funded” onto the world on 6-18-2013.  The group is led by MC Crumb who joined the Army and was deployed to Iraq and recently returned to the States.  Crumb used his paychecks from “Operation New Dawn 11-12” to fund this LP, which focuses on corruption, the politics of war and all aspects of life and their love of their home town Pittsburgh.  Though not a political group, many of their songs focus on the current political climate and the effects they've had on their lives as both soldiers and civilians.

Imperial "Zone Out" (Ft. K.I.N.E.T.I.K.) - AUDIO DOWNLOAD

Zone Out is the new single from Imperial and features talented UK rapper, K.I.N.E.T.I.K. Imperial's soulful yet gritty production draws you into the mind of K.I.N.E.T.I.K. as he tackles issues of self-esteem, social networking and some of bigger philosophical questions of life. This is the first all UK release from Illect Recordings.
Imperial and K.I.N.E.T.I.K.  hooked up about 9 months ago and have been plotting and scheming ever since. They decided to work on some original music after K.I.N.E.T.I.K.remixed a song of his called Memory Lane. They share a similar music taste, and the beat for ‘Zone Out' came about fairly swiftly fitting both of our styles. The main sample used in the song has been flipped a few times before (HipHop heads will know!), but Imperial wanted to put my own stamp and twist on it bringing it to life once again. Another studio session is already booked so don't be surprised to hear more music from them in the future.

T.R.A.C. - "Sea Of Tranquility" (MPadrums Remix) - (FREE DOWNLOAD)

Blunted Astronaut proudly presents 'Sea Of Tranquility", a special one-year anniversary picture disc record.
It's hard to believe that already twelve months have passed since the release of Astronaut's first, and now a very sought-after 7" - 'Stay True' featuring T.R.A.C., Drumat!c and IceRocks.
During that that time, we've managed to establish a steady, and continuous flow of incredible releases. It was only appropriate to come up with something unique to celebrate this very fruitful year.
The fact that BA once again teamed up with Brooklyn MC, T.R.A.C. is no coincidence, the picture disc format...only appropriate.
'Sea Of Tranquility' takes the listener on a hypnotic flight through the upper stratosphere to a very special place. The very calm and eerie instrumental (produced by D Melodious) acts here as a quick anesthetic. The message becomes clear after only few opening verses.
'Show Ready...(Ya Know?)' is a head-nodder that gives the listener a jolt of positive energy. T.R.A.C.'s impeccable flow combines perfectly with Dee's knocking beat to create another sure shot. Ya know?

AZ - “Thank You” (Freestyle) - Audio Download

Grammy-Nominated Recording Artist, AZ makes his return to the HipHop scene with the release of his highly-anticipated new LP Doe Or Die II, which will be released later this year. AZ wet the appetites of fans for Doe Or Die II in early January with his “Genesis” freestyle.

Since the release of the Doe or Die anniversary album in 2011, AZ has been working to perfect each song for the new album; and fans will definitely be pleased with the follow up.
AZ first became known by appearing on Nas' landmark 1994 album, Illmatic, as his hook on “Life’s A Bitch” still resounds today and he was also featured on Illmatic’s opening opus “The Genesis”. AZ was the only guest feature on Illmatic and soon thereafter he signed with EMI and released his own debut LP Doe Or Die in 1995 to widespread critical acclaim. The album's lead single, "Sugar Hill", became one of AZ's major commercially successful records as a solo artist, reaching #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and achieving Gold status. In 2002, he released Aziatic from which his single "The Essence“ f/ Nas was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. AZ has since released four solo-LP’s (his solo release Undeniable also made a high debut on the Billboard charts) and worked with artists such as Nas, RZA, DJ Premier, Ghostface, Raekwon, Pete Rock, Buckwild, Trackmasters, Emile, Lil Fame, Phonte, Sheek Louch, Styles P, Foxy Brown, Beanie Sigel, Nottz, Large Professor, Bink, MoSS, & Statik Selektah and remained a constant staple with fans and critics alike. On the "Thank You" (Freestyle), AZ goes in on a medley of beats provided by DJ Doo Wop. Look out for the video for "Thank You" & Doe or Die II LP.

9th Wonder Unveils New Secret Weapon From His Jamla Army "GQ"

They say it’s different across the bridge, and there is something definitely different about GQ.  In the words of 9th Wonder, simply put, “he’s a star”. GQ, who Grammy Award winning producer, 9th Wonder, coins his “secret weapon” is not only a former NCAA basketball champion, but in fact Oakland’s next Hip Hop hero.

Born and raised in Oakland, California, GQ (also known as Quentin Thomas) found his passion for music at an early age; nine to be exact.  Influenced by a wide array of music genres and artist, the young GQ became a fan of lyrics and started to pen his first rhymes; all while training to be a college hoops star.  In 2004 he was recruited by Roy Williams to play for the University of North Carolina’s storied basketball program; and was a member of the 2005 National Championship team his freshman year.  Some years later, and already a champion of one passion, he was well on his way to being a champion of his other - rhyming.

GQ signed with 9th Wonder in 2009, one of the last artists to join the budding Jamla roster, which has grown to be one of the most buzzed about indie labels today.  Of the multi-talented emcee, 9th Wonder says, “he isn’t a basketball player that can rhyme; he is a rapper that can ball.” His style is passionate, controlled, lyrical and he is a master of telling the gritty, dark tales of the place we know as “OakTown”.

In 2010, GQ was featured on EA Sports’ NBA Live 10 video game, alongside Mississippi’s own, David Banner.  The following year, the Oakland emcee released a few singles, and a three-part mixtape series, entitled “Blended”, before unleashing his first project under the Jamla imprint “Trouble Man.

Currently, GQ is setting up for a big 2013 introduction with his two part release, “Death Threats and Love Notes”, the prequel and his debut album. GQ’s “Death Threats and Love Notes: The Prelude” EP features guest appearances from Nipsey Hussle, Kurupt, Rapsody, Heather Victoria and production from 9th Wonder & The Soul Council. GQ’s “Death Threats & Love Notes: The Prelude” EP will be released On 3-26-2013 via Jamla Records.

Assata Shakur Has Become The First Woman On The FBI's Most Wanted Terrorist List!!!

HipHopNews24/72 Pac Aunt 'Assata Shakur' Has Become The First Woman On The FBI's Most Wanted Terrorist List. -- The aunt of the late rapper Tupac Shakur has become the first woman to be included on the FBI's Most Wanted Terrorist list. Assata Shakur – also known as Joanne Chesimard – was convicted for the 1973 murder of US policeman Werner Foerster in 1977, but escaped from prison two years later.

Shakur was a member of the Black Liberation Army, who allegedly shot Foerster in the head after she was pulled over by the state trooper and his partner for having a broken tail light, states New Jersey police.  She has now made the FBI's official list of Most Wanted Terrorists, after being on the run for almost 35 years. The reward for Shakur's capture stands at $2 million.

Shakur has been living in Cuba since 1984, reports the Independent, where the FBI believes she has links to international terrorist organisations.
New Jersey State Police Superintendent Col. Rick Fuentes said in a recent news conference: "She continues to flaunt her freedom in the face of this horrific crime."
Shakur's brother was Tupac's stepfather. Tupac was shot and killed in Las Vegas in 1996.

Chris Kelly Of Kris Kross Is DEAD At 34 - THE FULL STORY BEHIND HIS DEATH

HipHopNews24/7 - Chris Kelly Of Kris Kross Is DEAD, He Died Wednesday At an Atlanta Hospital After Found Unresponsive At His Home!! -- Chris Kelly, one-half of the 1990s rap duo Kris Kross, died Wednesday at an Atlanta hospital after he was found unresponsive at his home. He was 34. How Kelly died isn't known, and the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office said an autopsy is planned for Thursday. Many reports are calling it a drug over dose.

Kelly, together with Chris Smith, shot to stardom in 1992 with "Jump," which spent eight weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100. The duo opened for Michael Jackson that year on his Dangerous World Tour.
And their penchant for wearing their clothes backward were, at least for a time, widely emulated.
"I'm wearing my clothes to work backwards tomorrow," Michael Skolnik, said when he learned of the death.

Leslie Tookes, a CNN project coordinator, lived next door to Kelly. Like others, she too was saddened by his untimely death. We often heard him playing classical music and the piano," Tookes said. "He was a low-key type of person who was very talented and courteous, friendly and wonderful to our 5-year-old twins.

Rapper Da Brat, who also performed that night, wrote about Kelly's death, " REST IN PEACE TO MY LIL BRO CHRIS KELLY OF KRIS KROSS. Dam wasn't we JUST at rehearsal and doin a So So Def20 show?"

NEW UPDATE: 12:00pm

"Kris Kross" rapper Chris Kelly had been using a combination of cocaine and heroin the night before his death, this according to the police report.

According to the report, cops responded to Kelly's home Wednesday afternoon and found the 34-year-old lying on the living room couch.

Both paramedics who arrived to the scene said Kelly was unresponsive and had "no life signs." They attempted to revive Kelly, to no avail.

Cops then spoke with Kelly's friend, Donna, who told officers ... the night before Kelly's medical emergency, he had taken a mixture of heroin and cocaine.

Donna told police she had taken Kelly home to recover from the drug use and had done this "several times in the past."

Donna told cops Kelly had felt nauseous all morning before passing out.
