Currently prepping the release of his upcoming project "Bad Decisions", Rochester, NY artist Jean Claude BMOC drops off another visual. Following the release of “Bad Decisions“, new single “Thirsty” takes a spin off the BMOC (Big Man On Campus) moniker. But I'm such a fan of this debut single I decided to feature this track instead since it brings back memories.

Political Animals - "Who Want What" - {Official Video}

Political Animals’ new video for “Who Want What” is what happens when you take the key elements of any work of art the music and completely flip them on their head. That’s due to the handiwork of director Shane McLellan, who has previously worked work with Ceschi, I.N.F., as well as the PACT (Political Animals). Here, he captures the New Haven, Conn. four-piece’s genre-bending approach and applies it to film for something reminiscent of the Beastie Boys’ most influential videos.

Phife Dawg (A Tribe Called Quest) Has Died At The Age Of 45

One of the best lyricist in HipHop has moved on to join the ancestors today.  Best know as Phife Dawg the "5 Footer", Malik Isaac Taylor was 45 just years old.  He's been fighting with diabetes most of his life, though it is not confirmed but that might have contributed to his death.  Instead of making this a sad day, we decided to play one of his last recordings honoring J Dilla.  Rest In Power God....peace!!

Tuesday

ReLL Gambino - "Willing" (EP) - {Audio}

There are not many young rappers today that spit bars that makes any real sense, especially to me.  ReLL is definitely not one who follows the trend of the time.  Artist like Tech N9ne is living proof that you can be a millionaire in HipHop without going mainstream and without selling your soul.  ReLL Gambino is on his way to true longevity and greatness.

Monday

Knowledge - "Settle Down" - {Audio}

Knowledge has been rapping since the age of 13 (now 18) he's ready take on the "Golden Era" of HipHop style of rap. He dropped a Mixtape called "Nostalgic C.I.T.Y." last year which was an excellent testament to his talents.

Friday

DJ-V - "Maniac 4: Revenge" (Mixtape) - {Audio}

Many rappers have multiple styles now a days, different flows with a different experimentation of how they rap and create music. Dj-V on the other hand... well... he really doesn't try to follow those guidelines and trends that the mainstream displays everyday. The 21 year old gives you his project "MANIAC 4:REVENGE" is a television-horror movie inspired Mixtape that features six tracks that string together like scenes in a film. This was a much needed breath of fresh air, a truly authentic artist showing amazing creativity with lyrical flow.

HD100 - "You" (Prod by Wun Two) - {Audio}

Today I wanted to shine the light on local Emcee from my neck of the woods in the DMV.  It's ashamed we are not on the HipHop radar for the kind of music HD100 puts out. With a dope beat produced by Wun Two and HD100 on the mic, REal HipHop still lives in the DMV.

Saturday

Ensemble Mik Nawooj - "C.R.E.A.M." (Wu-Tang Cover) - {Video}

Led by composer/pianist JooWan KimEnsemble Mik Nawooj, the 10 ten-piece HipHop orchestra with Emcees/lyricists Do D.A.T. and Sandman, a soprano, winds, strings, funky drums, and piano, injects classical compositional techniques to the most inspirational genre of music, HipHop, you can't go wrong.
The result, “proves HipHop is a complex art form” (Sac Bee) and has been “dropping jaws left and right with its mix of seemingly un-mixable genres (OZY).
Most recently ESPN has commissioned EMN to reimagine “California Soul” for the network’s 2016 NFL Super Bowl programming. EMN has been featured on Wall Street Journal, NPR, SF and Chronicle, not bad for a band of scrappy young artists coming out of Oakland.

Friday

Baegod - "Carried Away" (Prod By Sbvce) - {Audio}

Baegod releases this soulful, wavy, HipHop inspired record called "Carried Away" from her upcoming (with no name as of yet) EP.  The project finds her taking a rest from all of the Vampin and Bedroomtrap'n she did this fall, and bringing it back to the sounds that started her and producer Sbvce's musical partnership.  The duo can flawlessly jump from grimy trap production to Dilla inspired Soul / Funk without skipping a beat.

Sunday

KJ Golden - "Melanin" (Ft. Alora Chyrie) - {Audio}

Ever wanted to encourage women of color? Well KJ Golden's "Melanin" is definitely a track to uplift women of different skin tones all over the world.  Before Beyonce decided she wanted to jump on the "Black Power" movement,  sista's like KJ has been carrying the torch for a long time.  I say it all the time, "We need more Lauryn Hills and less Bad Bit$hes in the world" - Ras Vader

Saturday

Zaze - "Only God" - {Official Video}

Never one to hold his tongue Zaze let's people know what he thinks of there opinions of him.
Not caring for the acceptance of others is what he clearly goes through on the first video of the album.  This is the first video off of Zaze's LP "The World As I See It", it pretty straight forward.

Wednesday

Atlanta's Own ILLClinton Unveil Their 14-Song Masterpiece "ILLCLINTON ERA" - {Audio}

The brothers of ILLClinton are back with an epic new full length LP, "ILLClinton Era", that is a joyous, pleasurable listening experience from beginning to end.
This is definitely an album worth the listen. Sitting at 14 tracks, "ILLClinton Era" rides from start to finish, the beautiful result of a two year, self-imposed hiatus and immense growth as musicians during that time. The perfect blend of HipHop, soul, big instrumentation, boom bap, Atlanta trap, lyricism, and soothing vocals.

The group's artist and younger brother, Brennan, effortlessly switches between rapping and singing throughout the entire project. Previously, known as more of an Emcee than singer, Brennan goes through all but one track with no features, mixing mind-blowing wordplay and cadences with memorable hooks, melodies, and an authentic voice.
The older of the two, Blake Belair, is the man behind the boards as the producer of the album, landscaping a refreshing, yet nostalgic backdrop to set every mood needed to match Brennan's dialogue. The tempo and bounce of the project is very upbeat, and the production is versatile and genre bending, causing a quick, smooth ride that ends faster than expected, but will make you listen again and again.
Standout tracks include: "Never Change Up", "Blue Hundreds", "Good/Yeah Yeah Yeah", "Glorious", and many more!
After all, as Brennan sings on the intro and outro, ILLClinton wants you to "Never Forget This Mixtape".

Tuesday

Gone Wallace - "Of The Essence" LP - {Audio}
